Product Management

Take full ownership of product by becoming the go-to person on all related topics including users’ perspectives and usage, product’s internal technical structure and capabilities, peer products’ competitive comparison, and the value proposition message of the product.

Implementation Management

Take full responsibility for delivering to the client exactly what the client requested and is expecting. This includes first understanding the client’s expectations, then confirming the deliverable does in fact meet those expectations, and finally, installing/upgrading the client system and training the client on usage of the new deliverable. When performed effectively, this task will open up opportunities for future deliverable requests from the client.

Client Services Management

Take full ownership of the client and be their advocate within the organization. Understand the client’s needs and expectations. Communicate those views to the other departments within the organization effectively. Foremost, keep the client fully apprised and abreast of all deliverables with timely (daily, if needed) updates. Client services team must be trained to be knowledgeable about not only the industry, the product and its related services but, more importantly, on the wants, needs and caliber of the client. By viewing clients as partners rather than as just customers, both parties succeed.

RFI/RFP/RFQ Management

These documents (Request For Information, Request For Proposal, & Request For Quotation) are intended to be the sole medium by which an organization can describe its wants and needs, for a particular solution or set of solutions, to multiple vendors. As such, there are 2 specific sides to this assignment. First is the organization’s authoring of the Request which is to be submitted to vendors, second is the authoring of the responses to the Request by the individual vendors.

In authoring the Request, the organization must:

> Formalize the process via an individual or a team
> Identify all areas of the organization impacted by the Request
> Interview and record all items requested by each area to be included in the request
> Distinguish between needs, wants and pie-in-the-sky wishes
> Clearly identify and prioritize all items requested
> Highlight all technology requirements via diagrams, as needed
> Align resources and budgetary requirements for all items
> Set timelines for deliverables
> Identify acceptable vendors for submission of Request
> Submit final document to management for approval and distribution
> Contact all approved vendors and submit Request with specific instructions
> Schedule pre-vendor submission Q&A meeting
> Open all responses to Request following final submission due date
> Review all responses in detail
> Request follow-up information, if required
> Formulate short-list of vendors
> Schedule vendor presentations
> Following vendor presentation, negotiate with best value vendor(s)
> Following vendor acceptance, close Request process and begin installation process

In responding to a Request, the vendor must:

> If permissible, be involved with the Requestor’s authoring the Request process
> Ensure the minimum requirements of the Request can be met
> Map all available (or buildable) products & services to each item on the Request in detail
> In instances, partner up with other vendors to provide the best solution(s)
> Attend all Q&A sessions scheduled by Requestor
> Formalize response in a professional manner and submit as many copies as required
> Once on short-list, deliver presentation
> Once approved, negotiate best value proposition
> Follow-up with installation process

Training Management

Perform personally or lead a team to train:

> New employees on company products & services, including technology, core subject matter (financial, scientific, engineering, medical, legal, etc.), and internal policies (usually conducted by HR)
> Clients on the proper usage of company products and services, including technology, core subject matter relating client understanding to delivered products and services, User Guides and other documents provided, Client Services procedures, and future update/upgrade cycles.
